Dear Approval Committee: 

The general idea of my senior project is, what is the effect of large quantities of caffeine on my job performance at work, and on the ability to stay focused during class. I chose this topic because millions of Americans drink coffee daily, but many of them do not realize the effect that caffeine has on your level of focus and concentration. I also chose this topic because I typically drink coffee about 3 mornings out of the week. I already know that caffeine will increase your energy and keep you from falling asleep. 

My specific intent for this project is to show the pros and the cons of the use of caffeine. I will be testing the number of materials I can sell at work. I will also be measuring how high levels of caffeine can affect my focus and concentration in school. Measuring this will be difficult, but I am planning on logging all of the time that I can stay locked in and focused. The purpose of this project is to find out the negative and positive effects of caffeine on the brain and performance quality of tasks. 

This will be a learning challenge because measuring the number of concentration levels will be very hard to log. There isn't a very good way to measure the intensity of the concentration so I will be logging the time spent on topic in class. This will also be challenging because certain times of the day and year are better for selling flooring than others. Hopefully working the same hours every week will help make this a fair test and experiment. 

For this project, I will also interview people of different ages, and ask them their opinions about caffeine. I will be using a book that is bought from Barns and Nobel by Republic High School to continue my research and to learn about the physical and mental effects that caffeine have on you. I will also be talking to some doctors and health professionals about their opinions, and research on this topic as well.
